How is neoprene glue used? Neoprene glue is a member of the contact glue family, which contain precisely neoprene-based substances, synthetic resins and solvents.

What glues

It is mainly used for bonding flexible materials such as rubber, leather, linoleum, carpet and plastic laminates to rigid substrates (wood, metal, ceramics, etc.). It is also possible to glue the same flexible materials together. It is used particularly in footwear and leather goods and generally in the repair of leather, leather objects. It also finds use in bookbinding.
Also useful in repairing rubber objects, bonding plastic laminate, felt, linoleum, and decorative paneling, and repairing carpet.

How to use

Why is this type of glue called “contact” glue? Because for proper bonding, it is necessary to apply adhesive to both surfaces, which will then be overlapped.
After the glue is applied, it is necessary to wait about 15 to 20 minutes for the solvents to evaporate, only then can the two surfaces be brought into contact by applying pressure against each other. Adherence is immediate, which is why it becomes essential to pay special attention while performing this operation, which does not allow for mistakes.
It is necessary to wait at least 48 hours before the bonding can be considered final.

What it looks like

Neoprene glue is liquid or semi-dense; it is recommended that it be mixed carefully before use. You can apply it with a brush or trowel, and the surfaces to be glued must be dry and clean.
If bonding is done optimally, contact glue provides an often permanent solution, resisting water and low and high temperatures (- 20°C to + 80°C) excellently.
